Allison Koester joined the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business as an accounting professor in 2011.
Allison's research considers how taxation, government financial assistance, legislation, and regulation shape corporate economic activity and outcomes. Her research has been published in leading academic journals, cited in both Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) releases and Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports, and covered by The Wall Street Journal and other news outlets. She has been invited to present her research at more than 100 universities and academic conferences.
Allison teaches a variety of corporate financial reporting courses at Georgetown. As of 2026, she has taught more than 3,700 students in Georgetown’s MBA and Executive MBA programs. She has been recognized for her teaching excellence, including as a Poets & Quants 40-Under-40 Most Outstanding Business School Professors and is a two-time McDonough School of Business MBA Excellence in Teaching recipient (an award bestowed annually to two professors).
Allison earned her Ph.D. at the University of Washington, and prior to entering academia she was a tax consultant at KPMG's Washington National Tax (DC) and Tyson's Corner (VA) offices.
